Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

Here at Belton All Saints' we provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all of our children. The Early Years Curriculum and the National Curriculum give the starting point to teachers planning to meet the specific needs of individuals and groups of pupils. Teachers set Learning Tasks that both support and challenge pupils. A minority of children have particular learning requirements that could form barriers to learning. Teachers take account of these requirements and make provision, where necessary, to support individuals or groups of children in order to enable them to participate fully in the curriculum and assessment activities. The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) is responsible for monitoring the progress and needs of these children.

The four broad areas of Special Educational Need set put in the 2014 Code of Practice are:

Communication and interaction
Cognition and learning
Social, emotional and mental health
Sensory and/ or physical

The Children and Families Bill will become enacted in 2014. From this date, Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’.

The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area. Click Here for more information about the Local Offer in North Lincolnshire

Below is a copy of our school's SEN Information Report which we hope will answer some of your many questions about the provision for children with special needs within our school. A copy of our SEN policy is also attached.
